Google Ripped me off!

Before starting the article I want to apologize for my vacation and not posting articles the last week or so. I promise I will start posting daily again(or alteast semi-daily.) ———————————————-

As many of you know I browse lots of seo and webmaster related forums and there is some really awesome information available in forums but I have also found alot of error and people who publish ideas or theories as though they were fact. This is what happened with evolution :P - Anyways in this article I am targeting those who claim Google is ripping them off or stole their money. There are two aspects to this. There are the ‘Google hates me!’ nuts and then there are the webmasters who are mad at Google for taking their Adsense money. In this article we will discuss both these groups of people.

The Adsense Version
Okay so you started a site and wrote a post or two(okay page or whatever) pasted the Adsense code and waited for the little pennies to add up. But just as you got a good amount of money(almost enough to get your check) Google sends you a nice little email informing you that they need that money for a new building project and regret to inform you that they will not be sending a check.

Most of the people in this scenario claim they are innocent of all wrong doing. They claim they have done nothing to unleash the wrath of Google(used to be Zorro - oh well). They say they don’t click on their ads and obey the Adsense TOS. I find this hard to believe in some instances. First of all nobody reads the TOS and alot of webmasters disobey rules and fail to follow certain details that Google seems to think are important. Everyone should really read the Google TOS before installing the code. You will regret it later if you don’t.

-Adsense TOS
-Adsense Forums

You should use those resources and really look into the other webmasters who are complaining and see what they are doing wrong. And what Google says. It will save you a lot of headache.

Okay for those of you who belong to the class of ‘perfect chaps’ this part is for you. You have honestly done nothing wrong and run a totally ethical/white hat website which provides great information and resources. You had just made a quite good sum of money in the Adsense piggy bank and then poof you get that dreaded email that Google needs it. You can be doing everything the way your supposed to and still lose your money and even your Adsense account. Google isn’t ripping you off however. I have had a few people contact me about this and after a little research I concluded that all of them were in the same boat. What happened? Why did they all lose their money? I am sorry to break it to you but there are these people on the web that actually want to hurt anyone and everyone they possibly can. They don’t care if they hack your site and spill its contents or if they just destroy your Adsense earnings.

These people can get you banned because Google can’t always tell the difference between a malicious clickety-clicker and you clicking your own ads over and over. I am happy to say there is a way to find out when one of these guys is attacking you and how to keep them from ruining your life. And it is really simple to use as well. The solution is called Adlogger and can be found at Adlogger.com. This is a awesome freeware tool(please donate as we need to keep these awesome free tools going. Paid stuff sucks especially from MS) that tracks clicks on your adsense pages. It immediately sends out an email informing you of clicks(for big sites you can disable single click notifications). If you disable the ’single click’ notifications there is a option to notify you of multiple clicks per unique user. This means if a person clicks any ad on your site more than once you get notified. The email contains the IP and other useful info. If you get a user clicking more than 2 times and get an average of less than 25 clicks a day then send a email to Google right away with the info of the clickers and say you are using Adlogger. Google loves webmasters who use it - they told me so. A few months ago I had this problem and sent a email to google. They emailed back and said they were removing the money from those clicks which was about $10.

This is the first version of people who claim to be ripped of by Google. Now was this group ripped off? If you were in Googles shoes what would you do? Is it fair for those Advertisers to foot the bill of these lunatics? I am a Google Advertiser and know what it is like to get click-fraud-ed. It is really maddening. Us publishers may lose a few dollars here and there because of click fraud but it is better to lose a few dollars than a few hundred or thousand so let Google know when you get notified of click-fraud. Also make sure your not telling your friends to click your ads, clicking your ads, using proxies to click ads(Google knows so don’t try it), telling people on your site to click ads etc.

Google Hates Me!
Why does Google hate me? Atleast once every day I will see a post on one forum or another asking this question. Sounds to me like something a spoiled child would say. Can a webmaster who acts like this actually be considered one? I don’t think so. It means you give up on yourself and your site to fast. Google changes a lot and if you can’t adapt you had better get out now.

There are various reasons Google supposedly hates this certain group of webmasters. I don’t own the encyclopedia of Google haters yet so don’t got the full list. Some lose their rankings and so run over to the forums and let us all know they are on the Google hate show. Wait a minute. Did you sign a agreement with Google? Are you paying them anything for this ranking? Maybe you send Google a birthday card every year which entitles you to this specific ranking? What is wrong with you? Google owns the search engine and the rankings and unless you pay for Adwords you are not guaranteed a spot anywhere. Does that mean Google hates you? Maybe but what about the other 50,000,000 sites that can’t have that top ten ranking? I mean come on somebody has to be on the 2nd 3rd…. pages or it wouldn’t be the top ten.

The reason many sites lose rankings is because of themselves. They got the ranking and so they begin to relax. They stop doing as much as they used to. They get to be so comfortable that when the ranking moves the slightest Google has turned against them. They forget the Jaguar out front that Google bought them, they forget the house that Googles search engine funded. Not all of us have a Jaguar or a mansion but most of us who have a work ethic can’t honestly say that we have done anything but profited from Google. So the next time you lose a ranking don’t go over to the forums and cry. Take it as a warning that you are being outwitted by your competition so get back to work.

Google does not edit listings manually unless it is a massive TOS problem or something. They do not remove a site or its rankings because they don’t like its name. Google doesn’t even manually edit their listings so they have better rankings for their own software and tools. You only lose a ranking if you are outwitted by your competitors or if a algorithm change discredits one of the factors holding together your ranking structure. Google changes this Algorithm all the time so as to keep spam down and keep relevancy high. So to stay ahead of the game you must work at your rankings all the time, keep building backlinks(one-ways and quality ones) and writing content.

So does Google hate these people? No not in particular. If you use white hat methods Google will leave you alone. Yeah you may lose a ranking or two but you can always get it back the same way you got it in the first place.

Google isn’t the big bad guy. Google is the giant that is single handedly revolutionizing the search world. Google isn’t perfect but atleast the are trying to keep everything relevant. I can honestly say I don’t see that in Yahoo! MSN is also trying but they haven’t half the power or knowledge that Google does.

I hope this article has given you some ambition to go kick those competitors out of their places. Google uses a ever changing algorithm which means you have to keep on your toes. Don’t let your competitors even a minute to work while you are resting. And don’t let them get you Adsense-banned so download Adlogger from Adlogger.com.

You are wrong. Google does single out sites which it bans or removes adsense money from. Google is now rich and doesn’t care about us webmasters any longer. I use Ask now.

  2. visio Says:

Wow you read the article fast! Not sure where you get that interesting info but there is absolutely no evidence to support that and quite the contrary.

Like I tell everyone who complains about Google. Its your choice to use any search engine you like. If you think Ask is best than feel free to use it. I have no problem with that.

Nice article. I use google ads on my site, and although I do not make much, i have heard lots of folks whine about “getting banned”, and was wondering what all the darn fuss was about. it doesn’t surprise me that most folks getting banned are either get-rich nut-jobs or really successful web masters sitting on their laurels waiting for checks and getting buried by the competition.

Keep moving forward folks. google is not the only game in town.

    Thanks for the comments!
I agree with you of course - That is how we get the nuts who start sites like google-watch. They are too lazy to work at it so have to slam google.

Thanks for reading the blog and come back soon….
