I have held off writing a linkbait article as I think Aaron and Rand did a great job of writing about it however I still have had requests to write one so will attempt it. Links to Aaron and Rands articles can be found later in the article.

Someone is bound to ask what the heck is linkbait? Well it is the art of fishing for backlinks. It is when a site creates a bait which acts like a magnet to attract links from other websites. This can be an awesome article, controversial article, or some sort of unique tool. Any of these methods work very well. Maybe I am just slow lately but this tool is new to me. Since the introduction of the MSN Adlabs Keyword tool I have been checking for new tools at MSN so it has to be new - So what the heck is this tool and what effect does it have on my life? Well here is how it works. You enter a key-word and select either Funnel in or Funnel out. An incoming funnel is a search that ends with a certain keyword; for example, an incoming funnel for “SEO” displays all the queries that customers searched before searching for “SEO”.(taken from MSN details page).
An outgoing funnel is a search that starts with the keyword; for example, an outgoing funnel for “SEO” displays all the queries that customers searched after searching for “SEO”.

Most of us agree on the value of a inbound link to a sites success in Google. Even MSN and Yahoo use backlinks as a major part of the factoring that goes into ranking a site but have you ever thought of outbound links and their value? Yes I just said outbound. Do links going out from your site have any value other than that which is passed to the recipient of the outbound link? I believe they do. I believe that not only does Google factor inbound but also the outbound links from a site. I think you will agree after you have read this article.

A while back I made a post on reciprocal linking and whether it was dead or not. I believe it is still alive just dis-valued in certain ways. But in this article I want to show you that there are ways of reciprocating that still pass great value. I believe that there are different methods of reciprocating. All roads don’t lead to rome and neither do all methods lead to the same valuing. You must learn what works, what doesn’t and what is likely to be spammed so you stay clear of it because one day it will lose its value considerably. So on to the article.
