The Dave Pasternack SEO Contest
ThreadWatch.org recently announced that they were hosting a Seo Contest for the phrase “Dave Pasternack”. As far as I know this will be the first Seo Contest hosted by ThreadWatch. From an update on the contest page I gathered that this contest was supposed to prove whether seo is easy, hard or in-between somewhere. My personal believe is that seo is definately not rocket science however does require a certain amount of experiance and alot of ambition, hard-work and patience. But contrary to David Pasternack youcan’t learn seo from Googles webmaster guidelines. You don’t need a college degree in seo and anyone can do it however not everyone who calls themselves an seo is really an seo. So my conclusion is that seo is easy to learn if your willing to read and learn however there is alot of false information out there which can get you side-tracked and it doesn’t happen over-night. Seomoz and seobook are two of my favorite seo sites.
Who is Dave Pasternack anyways? To be totally honest he was a new one to me. I know most of the major players in the game and even a bunch who I think lack nowledge in seo but Dave Pasternack was not one of them. So I did a search on Google for his name and it appears that he is not there. He can’t even rank for his own name? even before I was a seo I did that. Hmm something is fishy…
Dave Pasternack writes this article: http://www.dmnews.com/cms/dm-news/search-marketing/38695.html
“Unlike Paid Search, in which it’s a requisite to continually monitor and optimize one’s campaign in order to navigate through a dynamic auction-based environment, SEO is a job that is essentially a one-time task, not a continuing responsibility requiring the services of an outside firm.“
Its a big lie. If you stop working you will lose your rankings. Yes its true that major sites mainly keep their rankings but the Search Engines are getting more and more a competition ground and your not going to keep your rankings if you site around. Any webmaster in their right mind knows this.
David Pasternack is anything but a seo in my mind. To change my mind would take Dave getting a ranking for his name for a start and maybe ranking for a competitive phrase. So far he has shown no seo ranking skill.
So I guess we will have to wait and see what happens…. I guess since I am posting about the contest that makes me a contestant????
